Mathematics

A high-quality mathematics education provides a foundation for understanding the world, the ability to reason mathematically and a sense of enjoyment and curiosity about the subject.

We offer a mastery curriculum for all learners by providing frequent opportunities for our pupils to problem solve and reason within real life contexts and across the curriculum.  Our mastery curriculum offer provides opportunities for pupils to learn through a range of carefully planned concrete, pictorial and abstract learning experiences.

Our mastery curriculum offer will ensure that some pupils are able to work at greater depth.  This is achieved when children are able to see mathematical connections and apply their mathematical skills across a range of areas.   Learners will be able to make generalisations, conjecture relationships and provide levels of proof.  As resilient, resourceful learners, who are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning, our pupils are equipped with the skills they require to carefully select appropriate resources to support their learning.

Our Maths subject Leaders are Mrs Thorpe and Mrs Smith.

Please see the resources below to find out more about what and how children will learn in maths.
