Good Morning Reception

Hello Reception. We are very sorry that you are missing out on your Christmas party this afternoon. We hope that you have fun having some party food and dancing at home.

To get you in a party mood here is a fun ‘elf workout’ which we have been enjoying at school this week.

PPPPPPPPenguins!

Have a look at some of our lovely penguin pictures we have made using the interactive whiteboard on Purple Mash.

Frozen!

This week the children have been very helpful to their little friend Penguin. He became trapped in some frozen ice so they had to work together to ‘free’ him. They discussed ways in which they could melt the ice. We then talked about the change of state. We have enjoyed creating our own small world Polar regions using different resources. In Maths we have been exploring repeating patterns. We used the coloured penguins to make our own patterns. Some of us have been building igloo’s out of sugar lumps. We talked about the best structure needed to ensure our igloo remained stable.

Brrrrrr!!

It is a good job some of us were wearing our hats this week as we have been to visit the polar regions! We looked at the North and South Pole on Google Earth and discussed the weather conditions. We talked about the differences between the two regions and what animals we would find where. We have been exploring non-fiction books and looking at the features these books have. In Maths we have been finding 1 less of a given number and recording as a number sentence. In Independent Learning time we have been enjoying making our own part-part whole models to explore the composition of numbers.
