Local Author Visit

We are very excited to announce that local author, Sarah Griffiths, will be coming for an author visit on Friday 19th May.

Sarah will be sharing her book, ‘The Lost Voices’ and talking to the children about how they can look after our planet and all of its people like the main character. She will also be talking to the children about life as an author and how to get from an idea to a published book.

We can’t wait to find out more!

Maths homework Year 1

Numbots

We are now using ‘Numbots’ as our maths homework in Year 1. You will be able to login to Numbots using your child’s Time Table Rockstars login details (found at the back of their reading diary).

We would like your child to complete 3 minutes on ‘Story Mode’, 4 to 5 times a week. Story mode will then unlock a range of challenges for your child complete, the emphasis of the challenges is on rapid responses to essential facts and simple sums, against the clock.

We will be able to track the children’s progress through the story mode, and see how they are getting on with their challenges.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Many thanks,

The Year 1 Team.

Collage animals

In our Art lessons this half term, Year 1 have been learning about the artist Robert Bradford. The children used pictures of plastic toys to make collages in the style of Robert’s recycled sculptures.

Art – recycled sculpture

Next week in Art, Year 1 children will be making their own recycled sculptures based on the work of the artist Robert Bradford. Please could we ask you to save any  cardboard packaging (cereal boxes, food packaging, kitchen roll tubes etc.) and clean, plastic bottle tops and send these into school by Monday 20th March ready for the lesson on Tuesday 21st March.

Many thanks,

Year 1 Team
