We have really enjoyed transition week. Well done to our Year 6 children who visited their secondary schools, we heard such positive reports about their experiences. Smooth move on Tuesday morning was lovely. The children enjoyed getting to visit their new classrooms and meet their new teachers and support staff. Parents will have opportunity to meet the teacher on Monday after school next week. Please pop along to your child’s new classroom after school to find out more about the year ahead.
As ever, at times of transition, we do have to say some goodbyes. Miss Preston, Early Years Leader is leaving to pursue an exciting opportunity in an international school. Having started her teaching career at Apley, Miss Gilbert will be leaving us to take the next steps in her career. Miss Campbell Curtis, will also be leaving to continue her career. Finally, after an amazing 18 years of dedication to Apley Wood Primary School, Mrs Trudi Smith, senior administrator, will be leaving Apley to pursue an exciting opportunity outside of the education world. We will miss them all very much, and I would like to say a huge thank you on behalf of our school community and wish them all the very best of luck.
Mrs Rowe starts her maternity leave next Friday, for a very well deserved rest before baby arrives! We wish her all the best and look forward to hearing how she is after the summer break.
We welcome four new members to our teaching team in September. Miss Lampitt, year 6 teacher, Miss Perks, year 5 teacher, Mrs Stinson, year 5 teacher and Mr Spragg, year 4 teacher. They have all visited school this week and will be on site for some other occasions before the end of term. We look forward to welcoming them to the team in September.
