Sponsored Walk 23.03.2023

We are delighted to announce that our very generous Apley Families have raised a whopping £2,963.25 through sponsorship for our walk on Wednesday 29th March, with more still to come! We have been blown away with your generosity and we look forward to announcing what the funds will be spent on after the Easter break.

Special recognition to our biggest sponsorship raisers: Emma B, Edward M & Georgia W and to our fabulous volunteer marshals.

A very heartfelt thanks from the Apley Wood Team!

EYFS Library Books

Unfortunately we have not been able to visit the library this afternoon. We have collected in all the library books from children’s bags and will give new books out the first week back after Easter. Please have a good search at home if you have misplaced your book because we are not able to give new books until old ones have been returned.

Many thanks,

The children negotiated space and depending on the equipment they came to they either practised their jumping, side stepping or catching skills.

This week, Base 1 made their own treasure chests out of egg boxes. They then went to search for treasure (particular natural items found around the school grounds). They needed to find something soft, smooth, tickly, fluffy, flaky and sticky.

Ways in which you can support your child are to:
Practise reading different individual sounds your child finds difficult –  sounds your child needs to learn have been given to you at parents evening.
Support your child to blend the sounds to read the word e.g. m-a-t = mat
When your child is confident reading aloud, encourage them to read in their head ‘Fred in their head’.

Please ensure your child’s reading book and reading diary stay in your child’s plastic folder which comes to school every day so your child can read with an adult in school. We aim to listen to your child at least once a week.

Books will only be updated when your child can confidently read the words fluently.

Maths
This week, we are learning to estimate.

Challenges to complete at home:

Can you estimate how many apples are in the bag? How many teabags are in the box etc.

Theme
This half term, our topic is Let’s Grow! This week we are reading Supertato.

All the children practised their cutting skills this week and enjoyed eating the chopped up vegetables and trying different dips!

28th March – Superhero Theme day

Thank you for your continued support,

The EYFS Team.

EYFS – Superhero Theme Day

Letters have been sent home today regarding our Superhero theme day next Tuesday 28th.

We have been enjoying reading the book Supertato. We are asking that all children next Tuesday 28th March dress up as a superhero. This can be as simple as adding a cape to their own clothes or a making a simple eye mask.

Thank you again for your support,

The EYFS Team
