Headteacher’s Message 03.05.24

We were offered a great opportunity by West Mercia Police this week.  Some of our children got the chance to trial ‘Top Dog,’ a new game being launched by the police.  They also had opportunity to meet some of the Police Dogs who are the stars of the game!  A huge thank you to West Mercia Police, for choosing us to take part and for the great feedback about the high standards of behaviour the children demonstrated.

Well done to the children who took part in the swimming gala this week.  It was a new experience for many of them and they were brilliant!

Year 3 Forest School 2.5.24

We had a fantastic time taking our science lesson into forest school yesterday morning. We were looking at the transportation of water within plants and how it moves from the roots up to the flower. After having a go at transporting the water using our hands (which wasn’t very successful!), we used our resources to create our very own ‘stem’ which was much more efficient. Thank you Mr Yardley for organising this!

‘Top Dogs’ – West Mercia Police

Some Apley Wood pupils had a rather different lunchtime today which they spent with some special visitors! They enjoyed playing ‘Top Dogs’ cards with PC Brittain, PC Huges and PC Worrall, along with getting to meet their police dogs PD Geroge and PD Riley. The pupils asked some great police-dog focused questions and particularly loved winning their first ‘Top Dogs’ police trading cards.

Yr5/6 Swimming Gala

Well done to our Yr5/6 Swimming team they did incredibly well especially for those who competed for the first time. Most of our team was made up of Yr5’s so they will be ready to compete next year.
