Headteacher’s Message

Welcome back to the Summer Term, I hope you all had a good Easter break.  I am delighted to share that our conversion was successful and we are now officially part of the Reach2 family of schools.  Mrs Gerry Crofts, Deputy Director of Education for our cluster came to school on Monday to meet all the children again and share some information about Reach2 schools. Please see the link below for the news release about this.

Welcoming Apley Wood Primary into the REAch2 Academy Trust! – REAch2 Academy Trust

We have had a completely new IT and phone system so please understand if we are not responding as quickly as we used to whilst we become used to the new way of working.  I have had some feedback that the answerphone system isn’t working so we have had this checked.  It is working, but it will only activate after 20 seconds, so please hang on and let the number ring until it clicks in if you want to leave a message.

The new phone number is 01952 980190

The new admin email is admin@apleywoodprimary.org

The absence line is absence@apleywoodprimary.org

The old phone number will not work and we do not have access to the previous taw email anymore so please do not use these.  Our contact details have also been updated on the website.

Some of our policies will change over this half term as we adopt Reach2 policies.  I will notify you of any changes and update the policies on the website when they happen.

Hook into a Book

This week a giant peach appeared in our classroom! We have been predicting where it came from, and why it is so huge. We watched an intriguing video introducing us to James and his despicable aunts. We gathered our ideas together and came to the conclusion we are going to be reading James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl.

Year 2’s Hook into a Book – 10/04/24

Year 2 had a wonderful morning at Forest School, hunting for clues to work out which book they would be reading in Love to Read this half term. They found a family of owls, a campfire, a red cape and a telescope. Once they had guessed that the book was The Owl Who was Afraid of the Dark, they enjoyed some delicious smores around the campfire. A big thank you to Mr Yardley for another fantastic Forest School session!

Forest School

This week, Year 4 had their first forest school session focusing on our new topic in Art ‘painting’. The children were introduced to the artist Lucy Arnold and her artwork based on nature. Their task was to explore the forest area and find facts about Lucy which they recorded in their sketchbooks.
