Message from the Headteacher (23.02.2024)

I hope you all had a good half term break.  We have had a super week in school, enjoying a number of visitors.  Reverend Stuart delivered our assembly on Monday to talk about Lent and how important it is to say sorry, Year 3 were visited by the fire service to learn all about their jobs and our attached advisor came to school to look at science learning. She was very impressed with the work in the children’s books, and how enthusiastically the children talked to her about their science knowledge. Our Safeguarding Squad also had a visit from Laura Hollie, from Telford and Wrekin All Ages Carers team, who is planning some work with them in the Summer term to support Young Carers in school.

Parent consultations are being held on 11th and 13th March 3.30pm – 6pm.  The link for you to book your face to face appointment will be available from Sunday 25th February at 5pm on Scopay.

Well done to everyone who has received a Headteacher’s award this week.  What a fantastic start they have had to this half term!

Y3 Hook Into a Book- 19.2.24

Yesterday, Year 3 were introduced to their new ‘Love to Read’ book- The Diary of a Killer Cat! They made some fantastic predictions about what the story might be about when they found a mischievous looking kitten , a bird and a tombstone in the box!

Year 3 Fire Safety- 19.2.24

Thank you to Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service for coming in to speak to Year 3 yesterday about what to do if there is a fire in their home and how to keep safe.

Y2 Hook into a Book – 19/2/24

Year 2 have really enjoyed finding out about our new text for our Love to Read lessons this half term. They were very surprised to discover a space capsule in Base 3 after lunch. When they opened it there were all kinds of space related clues about the text, including a planetarium, a map of the solar system and a tiny rocket that they watched blast off. They are now looking forward to reading the book, ‘Space Race’ by Malorie Blackman to find out if their predictions are correct.

Art in Forest School

The rain didn’t dampen the spirits of Year 6 today when they went into Forest School for their first art lesson of the half term. They enjoyed exploring the grounds to find natural shapes and patterns after analysing different textiles.

Base 4’s Parent DEAR Session – 21.02.2024

A big thank you to all the parents who came to our reading session this afternoon. The children really enjoyed sharing their books with you and are looking forward to the next DEAR session.
