Headteacher’s message – 15/12/2023

What a great week, ending with the amazing performances from our KS1 classes. The year one and two children were incredible with their singing, dancing and acting in The Big, Little Nativity.  Now I feel I am ready for Christmas!

As we near the end of term, I’d like to remind families that the children break up for the holiday on Thursday 21st December, as the staff have a training day on Friday.  We do have some staff to say goodbye to next week.  Mrs Parrish, Mr Clarkson, Mrs Evans and Mrs Worgan are all leaving us for new adventures. I’d like to thank them all for their hard work and commitment to our children and wish them all the best in their new adventures.

Congratulations to everyone who has received a Headteacher’s Award this week:

Arthur R, Isabella P, Reuben E, Rudi W, Evie P, Oliver W, Maliyah A, John L, Ollie B, Harper W, Erin T, Imogen B, Seerat M, Logan B, Base 8, Year 2, Myla W, Harper M, Charlie S, Amelia R, Rory D, Riley W, Harvey S, Jeevan T, Sophie C, Koby M, Base 14, Imogen M, Toby C, Georgia M

As this is the final newsletter of the Autumn term, I would also like to thank parents and carers for your continued support, the staff for being such a fantastic team and the children for their hard work, smiles and lovely manners!

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas, happy holiday and peaceful new year.

Mrs E Smith

West Mercia Police Competition Winners

We are delighted to share that we have three winners in the Operation Sceptre Art Competition, launched by West Mercia Police earlier in the term.  Children from across Telford and Wrekin entered, designing posters to promote the themes of Anti Knife crime or The police and safety.

A huge congratulations to our winners! Thank you to PC Rob Hughes, Community Safety Engagement Officer, who joined our celebration assembly last week to share the news and present the prizes.

The Big Little Nativity – 14th and 15th December 2023

Well done to all the children in KS1 for their wonderful Nativity performances this week. They have all worked really hard to learn their lines, songs and actions to make sure they put on a truly entertaining show. Thank you to everyone who attended one of the performances – we hope you enjoyed watching. Apley Wood really does have some really talented actors, singers and dancers.

WB 11.12.23 – DT in Base 6

We’ve loved making our sustainable Christmas decoration using recycled materials from home. The children designed their decoration and then made them independently using the resources available to them. We had all morning to get stuck in, and the children absolutely loved it!

WB 11.12.23 – KS1 and EYFS Hobgoblin Theatre Performance

KS1 and EYFS really enjoyed the Hobgoblin theatre performance this morning. They enjoyed joining in with repeated phrases and singing some well know Christmas songs.

There was lots of smiles and plenty of belly laughing, especially when Mrs Garraway and Mrs Jones were on stage doing the conga as the pantomime horse!

We are now feeling very festive and looking forward to Christmas even more.
