Headteacher’s Message

Transition is well underway at school now.  We met our new reception cohort last week, most of our Year 6 children have been to see their new secondary schools and we had a very successful smooth move morning on Monday this week for current Reception to Year 5.  Transition is a very exciting time but can also be a time of nerves for some children and parents.  If you have any questions or concerns then please speak to your child’s current  or where possible, new class teacher. On Monday 8th July, 3.30pm – 4pm, the class teachers will be in their new classrooms to meet parents and answer any questions you may have.

We are having to say goodbye to some staff members at the end of this term.  Miss Lampitt, Miss Edwards and Miss Perks, are all joining new schools in September and we wish with every success for the next stage in their careers.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for all their hard work over the last academic year.  We also have to say goodbye to Mrs Beardwood who has been a valued member of the Apley team for five years.  Mrs Beardwood is leaving to start a new adventure and we thank her for her hard work and contributions and wish her the very best of luck.

We have some new staff who have recently joined, or will be, joining the team.  Mrs Shirley Castillo, has joined our lunchtime supervisor team recently.  Miss Amber Gilmour, who has worked alongside year 6 this year, is joining as a permanent member of the teaching team in Year 4.  Miss Millie Pottinger and Miss Rebecca Price are also joining the teaching team in Year 1 and Year 2.  Mrs Dawn Searle, is also joining our teaching assistant team in September. I’m sure they are all going to make a fantastic contribution to our experienced and hardworking staff team.

Well done to everyone who has received a headteacher award this week:
