Headteacher’s Message 17.03.2023

We will be taking part in the Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel during 20–31 March 2023.  This is the UK’s largest walking, wheeling, scooting and cycling challenge. It inspires pupils to make active journeys to school, improve air quality in their neighbourhood and discover how these changes benefit their world.
The 2023 challenge
It’s more important now than ever to travel actively.  Active travel is a great way to build physical activity into  children’s daily routine. It helps them arrive to school
more relaxed and alert, and is great for their mental wellbeing too.   On each day of the challenge schools compete to see who can record the greatest number of pupils walking, using a wheelchair, scooting or cycling to school.
A school’s best five days will determine their final position and schools at the top of their leaderboards will receive an exclusive Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel
certificate.

We have plenty of space for bikes and scooters in our bike racks.  Let’s see how many active school journeys we can make!

Thank you to everyone who has attended parents evenings this week, if you haven’t had an appointment yet and would like one, please contact the office to arrange a meeting with the class teacher.

Well done to everyone who has received a Headteacher’s award this week:

Sustrans Big Wheel & Walk

What is Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel?

Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel inspires pupils to make active journeys to school, improve air quality in their neighbourhood and discover how these changes benefit their world.

Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel is open to all primary and secondary schools in the UK, including SEN/ASN/ALN schools. It is free to take part and there are daily prizes to be won.

On each day of the challenge, schools compete to see who can get the highest percentage of their pupils walking, using a wheelchair, scooting or cycling to school. Your school’s best five days will determine your final position, but you can log journeys on all ten days if you wish.

How many active journeys will our pupils make?

Year 3- Sports Relief

Year 3 had a fantastic morning doing some activities for Sports Relief. Thank you to Mr Mountford for organising it, we loved listening to some music and getting active!

Year 3 stone-age

The Year 3 children had a wonderful trip back in time to the Neolithic Era this afternoon creating their very own stone-age settlements. The children heard a range of facts all about the northerly village, Skara Brae and went off to create miniature versions of their own.

Despite the rain, their spirits weren’t dampened as they were treated to a warm hot chocolate before adding the final touches to their settlements.

The wildlife in forest school are now very luck to have so many options for places to shelter from the rain! Well done Year 3.
