At Apley Wood Primary Academy, we believe it is important to learn from and about religion to help the children understand the world around them. Through Religious Education, children develop their knowledge of some world faiths, and their understanding and awareness of the beliefs, values and traditions in our community and the wider world. We aim to help the children to appreciate the way that religious beliefs shape lives and behaviour, develop the ability to make reasoned and informed judgements about religious and moral issues and enhance their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. We encourage children to ask questions about the world and to reflect on their own beliefs, values and experiences. We acknowledge that each religion studied can contribute to the education of all our pupils. We value the religious background of all members of the school community and hope that this will encourage individuals to share their own experiences with others freely.
