Homework – Spring 2

Due to our London trip and upcoming assessments, we have decided to change our homework for this half term!

As well as practising your weekly spellings, we would like you to design a logo for our upcoming Spring Poetry Performance that represents the Highwayman! KS2 staff will choose the best one to feature on the front of the performance programme!

Year 5 Spring Homework Project

This half term, we are learning about the Rainforests and Deserts.

We want you to create a project of your choice about one or both of these topics.

It could be:

  • a 3D model of a rainforest or desert
  • Research powerpoint about an animal you may find in the rainforest or desert
  • Put together a survival backpack for a trip to the rainforest or desert
  • Create your own terrarium biome of a rainforest of desert using plants you may find there.
  • Or anything else you can think of – Use your imagination!

Base 13 – Safer Internet Day 06.02.24

This week, in Base 13, we looked at different features used online and how they impact us as internet users. This was related to Safer Internet Day, where the focus this year was ‘Changes Online’.

Well done Base 13 for some great teamwork and discussions!

World Book Day Monday 11th March

Due to our year 5 residential, we will be celebrating

World Book Day this year on Monday 11th March.

 

Come to school dressed as your favourite

book character or author and bring in your

favourite book to share with children from another year group.

 

Author Visit: we will also be having a visit from local author, Sarah Griffiths, who will be sharing her fantastic new book with us.

Apley Wood Walk – 22.01.24

This morning Base 12 walked to Apley Woods and enjoyed finding evidence of some ‘lost children’ dotted around! They showcased some wonderful teamwork inferring from the clues as well as enjoying some time surrounded by the nature of Apley!
