Summer Holiday Activities

Telford Urban Games – Free Sports Activities

Looking for something different to do this Summer Holiday?

Urban Games is Telford & Wrekin Council’s free programme of sports for kids, aged eight to 16, and wildlife activities for little ones, all taking place in a supervised space. It’s a great chance for children to have fun and learn new skills.

There really is something for everyone and with the Paris Olympics taking place this summer, children can get in on the action by having a go at archery, fencing, football, wrestling and table tennis.

All activities are run by qualified professionals at locations across the borough. There is no need to book a place.

Sessions are free to attend funded by the council’s Safer & Stronger Communities programme with support from the Police and Crime Commissioner and the Government’s Levelling Up Fund.

Online Safety Parental Controls user guide

This guide will help you set up parental controls and adjust privacy settings to provide your
child with a safer online environment. Parental controls can help to protect your child from
seeing something that they shouldn’t — although it is important to emphasise that no system
is effective all of the time, so it is important to engage with your child and talk to them about
their online life regularly.

New ‘Tech Team’ 2024/25 – 28.06.24

In September, there will be a new ‘Tech Team’ working with Mrs Stinson to ensure that our Computing curriculum runs smoothly.

Responsibilities will include ensuring devices are stored and charged correctly, running assemblies linked to Online Safety and be a part of the organisation and running of the Internet Safety Day assembly and activities.

This responsibility is open to current Year 4 and Year 5 pupils only (September Year 5 and 6 pupils).

Any children interested should tell Mrs Stinson and write a letter outlining reasons as to why they should be considered to be a part of the team by Wednesday 10th July.

Year 5 – DT – 28.06.24

This week, Year 5 have been making ‘Doodlers’ in DT.

We have been looking at closed series circuits, product design, product function and form to create a toy.

Here are some images from our lesson today. All of Year 5 have shown brilliant resilience, team work, resourcefulness and reflection on their designs.

Well done Year 5!

Base 13 PE – 25.05.24

This afternoon, Year 5 welcome Matt, Mrs Stinson’s husband who plays at Wellington Cricket Club, to our PE lesson. After enjoying cricket so much last half term, Matt kindly came into school to teach a cricket session to the children. They were brilliant and loved the drills that he set up.

Not content with one PE activity, we then swapped fields and joined Mr Mountford for some running races, in preparation for our upcoming sports day.
Well done Base 13 and Base 12 for a great attitude towards the lessons today, especially in the heat.
