DEAR Time for Parents reminder

Here at Apley we have a love of reading and every day have a ‘DEAR time’ slot (Drop Everything And Read). In this slot, the children may read independently or they may listen to the class story being read to them.

We would like to celebrate reading further by inviting you to take part in one of our DEAR time slots. This is a lovely opportunity for you to come into school and spend some relaxed time with your child at the end of the school day and either listen to them read, read to them or even read together. Each session will take place between 2:55pm and 3:15pm.

Year 3 – October 5th

Welcome to Year 3!

We want to welcome all the children who will be moving up to Year 3 this year, and we hope you had a fantastic summer. We are really looking forward to working with you all! Please find some information about our routines below. If you have any questions, please ask your class teacher.

Base 9 – Miss Dovydaitis

Base 10 – Mrs Hindle

Teaching Assistants – Miss Pearson and Mrs Stonehouse

Homework – all log in details will be available in the back of reading diaries.

Reading – we would ideally like you to listen to your children read 3 times a week. Children have the opportunity to win ‘reader of the week’ each week for their efforts in reading.

Spellings – spellings will be sent home on a weekly basis and the children will be tested on a Friday. (Week 1 there will be no spellings!)

Maths Homework – every week, there will be MyMaths homework set on a Friday, to be completed by the following Friday. If you are struggling with online access, let us know as we can ensure this is put in a book for you.

Homework Projects – these are set at termly and the children will be given more details about this towards the end of the Autumn term.

Physical Education – children will wear their P.E kits to school on their P.E days so will not need to be in uniform.

Indoor P.E – Tuesday

Outdoor P.E – Monday

We are looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!
