WB 04.03.24 – Year 1’s Visit to Christ Church in Wellington

Year 1 had a fantastic morning at Christ Church in Wellington. We’ve learnt about 7 important features of a Church; the organ, the pulpit, the font, the altar, the stained glass windows, the door and the lectern.

We enjoyed listening to Father Stuart read a passage from the Bible and Ann playing ‘All things bright and beautiful’ on the organ.

It was a fantastic morning!

Thank you to all of the members of the church for running the visit, and for the parents helpers who joined us on the trip.

DT Project – TOILET ROLLS NEEDED

REMINDER – TOILET ROLLS NEEDED

On Tuesday 5th March Year 1 will be starting to make their Toy Cars. We don’t currently have enough toilet rolls for each child to make their own toy car. Please can we ask for you to send your child in with some toilet rolls next week, to ensure we have enough for each child to make their own car.

World Book Day Monday 11th March

Due to our year 5 residential, we will be celebrating

World Book Day this year on Monday 11th March.

 

Come to school dressed as your favourite

book character or author and bring in your

favourite book to share with children from another year group.

 

Author Visit: we will also be having a visit from local author, Sarah Griffiths, who will be sharing her fantastic new book with us.

Recycling Request

This term, Year 1 will be using recycled materials to create sculptures in art and to make moving cars in DT. Please could we ask you to bring in recycling from home for these projects. We particularly need cardboard boxes, toilet roll tubes, kitchen roll tubes and clean plastic bottle tops.

Year 1 PE days Spring Term

Our PE days will be changing from the beginning of Spring Term. Year 1 PE days will be as follows:

Monday – Indoor PE

Friday – Outdoor PE

Please ensure that your child comes to school wearing the correct school PE kit on these days. We will advise you of our Spring Term Forest school session nearer the time.
