Keeping Active

During lock-down, it’s more difficult than ever to find ways to ensure we get our recommended 60 minutes of exercise each day.

Here are a range of resources I have found that can help you keep active in a fun way!

The Body Coach

PE with Joe has been a national hit and we love how many there are of you taking part EVERY morning! He also has loads of ‘Kids Workouts To Do At Home’ which are each 5-8 minutes that you can try throughout the day!

Super Movers https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/supermovers

This is fab website by the BBC that link being active with other parts of the curriculum. Click on either KS1 or KS2 and there are a range of Active Learning videos which are organised by subject.

Go Noodle https://family.gonoodle.com/

Go Noodle contains lots of active videos and games. This can be accessed through the website but is also conveniently available in an app. If an adult creates an account for free you can receive different curricular activities, off-screen home activities and newly added videos regularly.

Imoves  https://imoves.com/imovement-signup

iMoves is an excellent resource to support your home learning experience. You have to create a parent account (which is absolutely free) and you then have access to a wide range of videos. These include a variety of different focuses such as: ‘Quick blasts’, workouts (like yoga, balance, hip hop), boredom breaks, wellbeing and even a ‘Good Deed For The Day’. You can also get sent new activities and resources daily.

Nike- Active Kids do Better https://www.activekidsdobetter.co.uk/active-home

This website contains a variety of ideas of how to be active around the house and as a family. It suggests different games which you could play away from the screen but also has a function called ‘Activity Booster’ where you can create your own workout video to follow by selecting different movements and music.

Youth Sport Trust https://www.youthsporttrust.org/pe-home-learning

This is a brilliant resource to get active but away from a screen. It contains loads of ‘activity cards’ for a variety of different focuses (eg. gymnastics, athletics, games, outdoor and adventure). Click and download an activity card to get the instructions for the activity; you can also watch a video guide for each card if you want a visual example of how it’s done.

Change 4 Life https://www.nhs.uk/change4life/activities/indoor-activities

These are Disney themed ’10 minute shake up’ resources which can be done as a family. Select a Disney character game to open the step-by-step instructions. The Change 4 Life website also has lots of other resources linked with staying healthy.

Disney Dance Along https://www.thisgirlcan.co.uk/activities/disney-workouts/

This website contains Disney Dance along videos to well-known Disney songs. Copy the dance moves on the screen or put your own spin on their routines. There is also an additional link on the right-hand side called ‘exercising with your child’ which lists different ideas of how to stay active.

We’d love to see photos or videos of you being active! Also, if you have any other brilliant ideas or resources that we could share with your classmates, please send them in! Let’s keep active!

You can send them to: april.whitehouse@taw.org.uk or A2190@taw.org.uk

Fancy-dress workout!

Tomorrow morning, Joe Wicks is asking the nation to participate in his morning PE workout wearing fancy-dress!

What will you dress up as? We’d love to see as many of you as possible completing his workout dressed up- be as creative as you want!

Please email across any photos of you completing the fancy-dress workout so I can upload them onto the school website for all to see.
