Welcome

We hope you have all had a wonderful summer and your children are excited to join us tomorrow. We have spent time over the summer developing the indoor environment to make it even better for you!
To help with their transition, there will be no PE or Forest school this week. More information on this will follow.
Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow morning. Make sure to get an early night.

The EYFS Team

This week Base 1 enjoyed undertaking lots of different races using the track outside.

RWI

Ways in which you can support your child are to:
Practise reading different individual sounds your child finds difficult.
Support your child to blend the sounds to read the word e.g. m-a-t = mat
When your child is confident reading aloud, encourage them to read in their head ‘Fred in their head’, develop fluency and read at speed.

Please ensure your child’s reading book and reading diary stay in your child’s plastic folder which comes to school every day so your child can read with an adult in school.

Books will only be updated when your child can confidently read the words fluently.

Maths
This week, we have enjoyed completing STEAM activities linked the to the theme ‘Connections’.

In the below activity, the children made a list of all the people they see and meet in their day to day life. On long strips of paper, the children drew a map of their journey to school, drawing key landmarks they see on their way. They then marked different people they see each day and discussed how they interact with each other. We then spoke about how they connect to each other.

Key questions you may wish to ask at home:

Who do you see during your day?

How are you connected to these people?

How do you communicate?

Who do they communicate with?

What technology helps us to communicate?

Watch the link above and practise finding odd or even numbers up to 10 by sharing them equally between two groups. Do both groups have the same amount? Is this number odd or even?
