Zero the hero

This week we have been looking at recognising and representing zero alongside subitising numbers up to 5. The children have been working in groups, partners and independently to identify zero and not zero.

Here is a link to a song we have been singing during our maths lessons:

Phonics week beginning 25.9.23

Each week we will try to send out the videos for the following week containing the sounds we will be learning. It would be great if you could watch these with your child to support their recognition and pronunciation of sounds.

Coats!

As the weather is getting colder and continuing to be wet, we ask that the children bring in a coat to school. Please can this be labelled.

In order for us to help children to grow their independence skills, please can you practise putting a coat on with your child. It would also be helpful if you could teach them how to put their sleeves the right way too.

You can even try and teach them to ‘do the flip’!

EYFS Summer Homework Project

Summer Homework Project

Next half term, our topic is called ‘Journeys’. The children will be read a variety of books where the characters set off on their own journey. In particular, the children will read Whatever Next by Mae Jemison. This story is about Baby Bear who finds a rocket, makes friends with an owl, and has a picnic on the moon!

In preparation for this, we would like the children to create their own rocket! We encourage you to use lots or recyclable materials e.g., toilet rolls, cardboard boxes and also to paint your final creation to take it to the next level!

Please can your rocket/picture of your child holding the rocket be brought to school by Friday 9Th June.

Many thanks,

The EYFS Team
