Home learning

Ollie has been working really hard at home. He has been busy doing lots of maths, reading and writing. Yesterday he read a fact sheet about bats and then answered questions about it. Fantastic work Ollie! Keep it up!

Home learning

Jeevan has created a fantastic cherry tree painting at home. He has researched it and added facts to his picture. Well done Jeevan!

Home learning

Scarlett has been busy this week with her home learning, and has had lots of fun with her weekly challenge. She collected blossom petals off the floor and some sticks to create her own blossom tree. She found out about the tree and wrote a tree life cycle, then did her 2Do linked to this on Purple Mash. Super work Scarlett!

Summer Term Home Learning Ideas

Hello Year 1!

We hope you and your families had a wonderful Easter, and that you are all safe and well.

We have put together some ideas for home learning activities that you might like to try whilst you are not in school. These are linked to the topics that we would have been learning about during the Summer Term. Please do not feel that you have to do them all – these are just suggestions.

If you do not have access to a printer at home, activities can be done on any paper or in a notebook, or even just discussed.

From tomorrow (Monday 20th April), BBC Bitesize will be streaming daily lessons for each age group. More information about this can be found at https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize and https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/dailylessons

In addition to this, Plan Bee are offering some free home learning packs for primary children. https://www.planbee.com/free-teaching-resources/free-home-learning-packs

Remember it is also important to stay active, so we have included some links to ideas that you could use at home:

We hope you all stay safe and well, and look forward to seeing you all when we are back at school. Parents, if you have any questions, or would like to share anything your children have done at home, please email A2190@taw.org.uk .

Thank you for everything you are doing – you are all superstars!

Year 1 Homework Project

For the homework project this half term, we would like the children to design and make a toy or game out of recycled materials. Please see below for some more ideas related to the homework. We look forward to seeing the children’s work!

If you have any further questions, please speak to your child’s class teacher.

Many thanks for your support,

Language Day Fun

Year 1 had lots of fun on Languages Day. They learnt how to say ‘hello’ in lots of different languages and how to count to 10 in French and German. The children sung  songs in different languages, and can now all sing Frère Jacques beautifully!

The children particularly enjoyed tasting the different French foods. They were all delicious!

Welcome back to Year 1

Welcome to Year 1!

Children in Base 5 and 6 have come back to school with a fantastic attitude and are ready to learn. They have already settled in well to the new routines.

Each week, spelling homework will be sent home on a Monday to be completed every night and returned on a Friday.

Maths homework will be sent home on a Friday and should be returned by the following Thursday.

We encourage the children to read as much as possible at home, please record your child’s reading in the reading record every time you read together.

Our PE days are:

Monday – Outdoor PE
Thursday – Indoor PE

Please send your child with appropriate PE kit on a Monday and we will send it home on a Friday.

Forest school will take place later in the year. A letter will be sent home nearer the time.

Thank you for your support. We are looking forward to a really exciting year ahead!

Year 1 Toy show and tell sessions

Dear Parent/Carer,

As part of this term’s History topic about Toys, we will be looking at some examples of modern toys. We would like to invite the children to bring a toy in next week as part of a show and tell session.

Could they bring the toy, clearly labelled with their name, on:

Base 5 – Tuesday 15th January

Base 6 – Thursday 17th January

Please do not send in any valuable or sentimental toys, as although we will do our best to look after the toys that are brought in, accidents do sometimes happen, and we would hate for any treasured toys to be lost or damaged.

Many thanks,

Year 1 team
