Year 1 had a fantastic time learning about their senses in Forest School today. They had great fun doing the sensory walk and all the children could talk about what they could hear, see and feel.

Year 1 have been busy with lots of art activities this week. They have enjoyed doing ‘Doodle a Day’ to music by Hans Zimmer, looked at a wide range of art by famous artists and developed their observational skills by sketching the lines and shapes that they could see. The children then put their art knowledge to use by drawing some fantastic self-portraits.

Year 1 had a fantastic time at Warwick Castle on Wednesday! They explored the castle, saw a jousting show, a falconry display, a Zog performance and many more exciting things. The children behaved beautifully and we were very proud of them all, especially as it was so hot and busy. They were a credit to Apley Wood Primary Academy!

Today Year 1 enjoyed learning all about different castles from around the UK in our Forest School session. We will be continuing this every Thursday for the rest of term. As the weather is improving, children do not need their full forest school clothing, but could they please wear leggings, trousers or joggers every Thursday (to protect their legs from nettles) and make sure they bring a coat in case of rain.
