Friendship week!

As part of Friendship week, we invited our friends from year four to come and read with us. It was lovely to see the children sharing stories and enjoying each other’s company.

Fireworks in Forest Schools!

This week in Forest School, we collected leaves to make our own firework pictures. Look how amazing they turned out? We cannot wait to see Base 2’s pictures next week.

Forest school and PE

This week it is Base 1 for Forest School and Base 2 for PE. 😊

Dental nurse visit

Today, we had a visit from the Nurse to talk about dental hygiene. She brought her friend Derick with her. We talked about how to brush our teeth. We learnt that we need to use a pea sized amount of toothbrush, brush our teeth for two minutes in the morning and at night and that we need to spit the toothpaste out and not rinse. The children also decided which foods were good for our teeth and which foods were not. We were amazed to hear that tomato sauce has lots of sugar in it! Your child will have come home with a toothbrushing chart today. It would be great if they could fill them in and bring them back after half term!

A special visitor

On Monday we had a visit from Father Stuart! He came to talk to us about Harvest festival, what it is all about and how Christian people celebrate it. The children listened really carefully and talked about their favourite foods.

New phonics videos

Please see the links for some of the sounds that we have been learning in school. It has been great to see so many of your practising with your sound blending books at home!

Story of the week!

We have been reading the story ‘Can Bears Ski?’. It is a story about a little bear who finds it difficult to hear and pays a visit to the audiologist. The children have learnt all about the different senses and have learnt what a hearing aid is. We have also talked about our differences and what makes us special. If you would like to share the story with your child, please see the attached video.

The Scarecrows’ Wedding activities

The children have really enjoyed accessing our Scarecrows’ wedding themed activity during their independent learning time. From making an Apley scarecrow, to making bells ring, we have all been having fun learning together.
