Young people are growing up in an increasingly digital world, exposing them to both the opportunities and risks of the internet. CyberSprinters empowers them to make smart decisions about staying secure online.

The digital game can be played on phone, tablet and desktop, and is supported by a suite of activities. Parents and carers can also try the CyberSprinter puzzles with their children at home!

Kids for a £1 activities back for May half term

With the brighter, warmer weather hopefully on the way families wanting to make the most of the outdoors can hire a bike and helmet for just £1 from Telford Bike Hub in Telford Town Park. Adventure golf and disc golf are all back open for the season too.

Councillor Shaun Davies (Lab) Leader of Telford & Wrekin Council said: “We are in a cost of living crisis where our residents are struggling with the basics like paying for gas, electricity and their weekly food shopping without having to fund expensive school holiday activities. That’s why we will continue to offer our one-pound holiday sessions both this half term and with a bumper edition on the way for the six weeks holiday. Back in February over 1,000 residents took part so we know they are making a huge difference too.”

Many of these activities are also part of the council’s 10 by 10 programme which offers all children ten activities they should try before they are ten years old.

Residents will need a Telford Loyalty Card to book sessions. Activities can be booked 7 days in advance (with the exception of swimming) to help ensure you get your guaranteed slots.

The latest brochure can now be found online. Click the link for the brochure.

Summer Fayre – Change of date

We have recently been informed that Charlton will be holding the Charltonbury Festival on 7th July, which was the same date as our planned Summer Fayre.  As some of our children will have opportunity to perform at Charltonbury, we have changed the date of our Summer Fayre to Friday 30th June, 3.30pm – 5pm.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

Headteacher’s message 12.05.23

A huge well done to our Year 6 children who have demonstrated maturity and resilience in approaching their SATs this week.  They have worked so hard all year, have such a positive attitude to school life and are brilliant role models for our younger children in school.  We are very proud of them.

Thank you to our local PCSO team who visited school again this week.  They talked to Year 3, 4 and 5 about their job and role in the community and enjoyed lunch in the hall with our KS2 children .  It is really important to us that our children at Apley, get to know our local PCSO team as trusted adults who can support them in the community. We are looking forward to their next visit already!

Headteacher’s Message

We had a great day yesterday with our Coronation celebrations.  A big thank you to Miss Craig for organising our celebration events, the catering team for a fantastic celebration lunch and to our families who were able to come and join us. We were delighted to see so many families together in school.

Congratulations to Efosa in Year 3, who has been selected to train with Shropshire County Tennis team.  This is a huge achievement and we are very proud of him. Our Y3/4 Girls Football team, also demonstrated fantastic skills yesterday, when they won the final against Grange Park.  It was such an exciting match and they played brilliantly.

Our annual parent questionnaire goes live on the website for you to complete next week.  We very much value your feedback, both the positives to share with staff and your ideas about how we can improve and develop further.  The link to the questionnaire will be on the news section of the website and on the classroom showcase for each year group.

Well done to everyone who received a Headteacher’s award this week, they should be proud of their efforts and achievements:

Message from the Headteacher 28.04.2023

We have had an exciting first for Apley this week.  Some of Year 5 children entered the F1 in schools competition and both teams won awards.  The Thunderbolts were the overall winners and have qualified for the National Championships!  This is an incredible achievement and the children worked so hard as a team.  Thanks to the staff who took them to the event on Monday.

Please have a look at the  monthly online safety newsletter that was sent out this week, it has some important parent information about a new automatic  feature for any snapchat user and has been linked with some potential online safety risks.

We love that children are coming to school on bikes and scooters but please remember that children should not be riding them on the playground when they arrive/leave.  This is to ensure everyone stays safe during busy times at the start and end of the day.  Permits to leave them on site during the day are available from the school office.

Well done to everyone who achieved a Headteacher Award this week:

Leo E, Zoya A, Ethan H, Tali-Sian D, Alfie B, Georgia H, Sebastian B-K,

Emmy C, Oliver L, Joseph M, Jack H, Aabidullah Y, Amrita T,

Harry C, Talliyah E, Taylor T, Lily L, Emanuel K, Elna T, Hollie-Jessica R,

Noah E, Rylan W, Madi S, Harvey S, Oliver B, Amelia H,

Luciana P-B, Charlie N

Have a lovely bank holiday weekend.  We will see everyone on Tuesday.

Headteacher’s message

Welcome back to the Summer term, I hope you all had a lovely Easter break.  We have a lot of enrichment activities planned for this term, the dates of which I have shared in a letter earlier this week.  They are also available for you to access on the website.  You can find out more about what your children will be learning this term by looking at the curriculum pages on the school website.  More information will also be posted on the class pages over the coming weeks. If you have any questions about our topics for this term, please speak to the class teachers.

Our school council have given us a super start to the term by planting a new wildflower area, with seeds donated by Sainsburys.  They worked so hard doing this and I can’t wait to see the results of their efforts.

I am extremely impressed with our Year 5 children who have been working for a number of weeks on a Formula 1 Design and Technology project.  They have had to use a wide range of skills and apply their knowledge from different subject areas to design and create F1 model cars.  Good luck to the team who have been selected to represent Apley at the competition on Monday next week.

Well done to everyone who has received a headteacher award this week:

Zoha A, Monty M, Neve S, Nancy J, Sophie O, Oliver G, Layla R, Evie P,

Jaiden M, Gathindu M, Ethan S, Katie O, Isabelle C, Jake N, William K,

Olivia C, Logan B, Lily H, Sam Y, Saphire K, Lucy W, Andrea D,

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Mrs E Smith.

Happy Easter

We have had a super last week of term with Years 3,4 and 5 delivering their ‘Outstandingly Apley’ Easter show.  They certainly sang from their hearts and it was a pleasure to watch.  Thank you to everyone who came to watch and support them.

We also enjoyed our sponsored walk yesterday.  It was great to have the whole school participating in this together.  Thanks to all the volunteers who were Marshalls for us and to everyone who has sponsored the children.

I’d like to say a huge congratulations to Mrs Benton in Reception, who will be getting married over the Easter holiday and will return as Mrs Jones.

School returns on Monday 17th April.  Wishing you all a lovely Easter break.
