20/10/23 – Y2 Author Visit

Year 2 have been very lucky to Have a visit from local author JK Keane this morning. We enjoyed hearing her read from her books and learning about where she gets her inspiration from.

Her books, Mia is Lost and Mia Fights Back, are about a little, black kitten that gets into all sorts of adventures. The children listened beautifully and loved looking at the beautiful illustrations.

Year 4 – Mechanical posters – 29.6.23

Year 4 have used their STEAM skills this week to create some fabulous mechanical posters. They used levers and pivots to make toothbrushes move and to pass on the important message of looking after your teeth. Well done Year 4!

Year 4 Design and Technology – 27/6/23

Year 4 have been busy making mechanisms in our DT lessons today. We have made waving models using cardboard levers and split pin pivots. We also learned about inputs and outputs. By pulling or pushing the lever (input), we can make the hand wave (output).

Y4 STEAM week – 26/6/23

Year 4 have had a great start to our STEAM week activities. Lots of us dressed up today in a wide variety of costumes. Can you guess what we all are?

We have also been learning about our digestive system. We drew around a volunteer and then tried to put all of the organs in the correct places. We hope you agree that we did quite a good job!

Y4 – Anglo Saxon Villages – 7/6/23

Year 4 have had a great time in History this week learning all about the main features of villages in Anglo Saxon times. They researched the buildings, locations, animals and people that would have typically been found and then drew their own village including all of these things. I think you’ll agree they have done a fantastic job!

Coronation Day in Year 4

Year 4 are having a fantastic time on our special day to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.  We have written diaries as though we were the King and created collages of the Union Flag. We are really looking forward to making badges this afternoon.

Sacred Places Visits

Over the last fortnight, Year 4 have had two fascinating visits to sacred places in Wellington. Firstly, we visited Christ Church where we were able to see the beautiful stained glass windows, font and altar as well as listen to the organ being played. Then, we were welcomed to the Mosque where We learnt all about the way Muslim’s pray and the learnt about the similarities between the two religions.

Thank you to everyone who made us feel so welcome.

World Book Day – 6.3.23

Year 4 have had a fabulous time celebrating World Book Day. There are some fantastic costumes from superheroes and animals to princesses. Well done to everyone for taking part. We have tested our book knowledge in a quiz and even designed our own book covers for our chosen books.

Y4 Sculpture – 2.3.23

In our Art lessons this week, Year 4 have been learning about texture as part of our sculpture unit. We explored different ways of adding texture and used a range of different techniques to make a tile.

Healthy Body, Healthy Mind Week – 8.2.23

Year 4 have been thinking about our physical and mental health this week. In English, we have written rhyming poems about ‘Hobbies for Happiness’ which were really great.  We have also thought about how staying safe online can help us to be happier. The theme for Mental Health Week this year is ‘Let’s Connect’ so we have thought about all the connections we have with our classmates. We completed Bingo cards that show our connections.  We have all enjoyed the week and hope to keep up the healthy things we have learned about.
